Workshop
"Kurinuki, Japanese technique."
Kurinuki is a traditional Japanese pottery technique in which an object (such as a bowl, vase, or small box) is carved from a single piece of clay. This method involves removing all excess material, allowing for the creation of unique, textured objects.During the workshop, you will be able to create a cup or a box from clay using the Kurinuki technique.
Afterwards, the participants can choose the glaze which protects the pieces and makes them food safe.
Each piece will be fired in the studio kiln.No previous experience with clay is needed. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and designed to give space for creativity, conversation, and the simple pleasure of making something by hand. The workshop is led by Belgian artist Julia Kushnarenko in her studio Plombir in the heart of Brussels. Julia has been working with clay for over six years and is constantly developing her practice. She enjoys combining different media in her work, such as film and performance, and integrating ceramic elements into them. The pieces that you create will be ready in 4-5 weeks, because they need to pass 2 fires, being food safe.Your ticket includes:
